Post Cosey Complex

It's taken me 2 days to come down from the euphoria of Cosey Complex. Well that and sleeping after the intense day of events then Cosey Club evening that went into the wee hours of Sunday.
I do feel so privileged that so many creatively gifted and wonderful people took part in Cosey Complex. The days events were outstanding for so many reasons, not least for the opportunity to
hear and see such diverse inspired and inspiring works in an atmosphere free of pretension and loaded with the spirit of generosity. The day and evening were truly 'cosey as methodology' in action. My heart felt thanks to everyone involved - Maria Fusco, Richard Birkett, Martin Bax, Clunie Reid, Graham Duff, Anthony Elms, John Duncan, Daniela Cascella, Chris Kraus, Corin Sworn, Diedrich Diedrierichsen, Gerard Byrne, Rob Stone and Zak Kyes for the excellent Reader. Cosey Club was awesome so thank you Richard Clouston, Caoimhe, Jon, Andrew Weatherall, Fixmer McCarthy, Factory Floor and Eve Black Eve White. I was blown away by it all.

So here's some pics for everyone.

a very elated Cosey x

Focussing in

This year seemed to have a weird stop start feel to it with projects hovering around then falling away. Now focussing in is possible as confirmed exhibitions and events move ever closer. My recent lectures and in conversations have been so enjoyable and thought provoking - new ideas placed to one side while I pay full attention to present works.
I will be announcing live work and exhibitions shortly as soon as dates have been finally confirmed. I'll post all on my web site as well. In the meantime I'll be working hard in my studio and with Chris in our sound studio for a live audio visual installation in Italy at the end of May. Those restless undercurrents of creativity are bringing a fantastic feeling of expectation and excitement. There's nothing quite like it.

Years Ending

Well I've finally managed to wind down after all the activities of this year. Many ups and downs to ride but it's been an amazing year in so many ways. Life just seems to get richer in all its essence. I'm placing 2010 projects carefully to one side, in a state fit to return to after the coming festivities - there's lots happening in the new year.

This is the only time of year I take a proper rest so I will be indulging in all manner of ways. Loving family, friends, good food and movies await.

Looking forward to an awesomely positive 2010.

Oscillating between many pleasures...

Phew! - two days after the Tate Symposium and I'm feeling that my time allows for some small pleasures now after all the juggling around of project deadlines. The symposium talk I had with Catherine went very well and we addressed some interesting issues, partly in response to the previous talks - particularly by the head of art business studies at Sotheby's. One of the best things about 'in conversations' is that they tend to steer into unexpected territories which is always a bonus for me. The 'Pop Life' show demands deep engagement by those who go see it and especially art critics. Some of the works highlight a fundamental aspect of art since the 70s, the purpose of its production and the cynical marketing of it. The differing approaches of the artists make for a great starting point for discussion that many have chosen to ignore - opting for the obvious outrage.....now where have I seen that before?

Autumn is one of my favourite seasons so I'm basking in the riot of colour leaf fall brings and enjoying nesting for the cold winter months ahead - hot crumpets, good films and RECORDING again!!! Hooray! I've been away far too long.

Summer recedes

So the summer is finally receding and autumnal activities are descending upon me. I'll be installing my work for the Tate exhibition 'Pop Life' in 2 weeks time then going for the PV with friends. I'm really looking forward to the show - there's some great work and I'm in very good company. I may also be doing an on conversation in October as part of the symposium for the exhibition - I'll let you know when and where as things are finalised.

I'm also in two books that are published in the following months: 'Post Porn Politics' in which I talk with Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens, and 'Stanley Picker Gallery Public Lectures on Art. 1: Cosey Fanni Tutti in conversation with Andrew Wheatley' - a transcript of the talk along with photographs of works discussed.

As it gets cold outside I'm longing to get back to recording in the studio. I'm itching to get cracking. There's three sound projects in progress and all so very different to each other not to mention GRISTLEISM of course.... which is on schedule and looking grrrreat.

I'll keep you posted more often now things have calmed down.

Bubbling...

Feeling pretty chipper after an extended time out after the TG activities. The emotional highs I got from the shows alongside the wonderful energies people brought with them to the shows kept the physical toll of the traveling etc at bay. Then when it all stopped the extent of the fatigue comes through. But it was so so worth it. A HUGE thank you to every one who came to the shows and made them such an amazing experience.

I've been relaxing (alas with interruptions) and am now working on all kinds of projects that will be revealed when they come to fruition or are confirmed. Too much to do really what with all the mundane stuff as well. I need a Cosey clone to do the mundane and keep me sane.
More as and when,

On a high...

It's been nigh on 6 weeks since I got back from the TG USA shows and I'm feeling pretty damn good and energised again. Lots has been happening in other areas of my work/life which has taken me away from the TG zone. Mainly in the art world with my inclusion in the forthcoming Tate Modern exhibition 'Pop Life' which opens October 1st. I'm thrilled to be in the company of some wonderful works. Also this summer I'll be finishing my new work 'The Szabo Sessions' and continuing to hammer out other budding art projects.

A number of music projects are coming together now which will take up all my time for the rest of this year with plans for live shows in 2010. It's all VERY exciting and fulfilling especially working with new people.

For now, I'm back in the studio working on the upcoming TG shows.
More as I get time to update you all.
